*** El Ray MySpace site *** *** 'Holiday On Ice' is OUT NOW!!! ***

July 11 - 2008
Hello....it's been a long long time since our last update. Check this out.

September 11 - 2007
OK, time for an update on what's going down in the world of El Ray.

El Firetone currently resides in the US with his family and won't return before he:

1) has a decent golfing score
2) has convinced Michael Swart from Swart Amplifier Co to build us two Atomic Tone reverb tanks
3) has gone through 200 different brands of beer in the local joint.

He plans to get those things done before summer 2008. Does this mean no gigs before 2008. Well, that depends.....we're only an aeroplane ticket away. The Irish HWCH Festival knows this and after experiencing the El Ray mojo live at this year's SPOT festival in Aarhus, Denmark they asked us to play in Dublin as a part of their Scandinavian Invasion theme this year. We'll play a 45 minutes set on the Lounge stage on September 28th. Starting at 22.45 to be precise. It's been some time since our last performance and we're hungry like wolfs for some live action!! Hope to see a whole bunch of drunk Irish chaps and gals there.

And oh, we recently signed a new record deal with Copenhagen based White.Out Music plus a publishing contract with EMI International. That's pretty exciting news for this band and the plan is to release an album sometime next year. We'll continue to love and work together with the cool cats from Heptown Records with our releases on the label.

July 11 - 2007
Check out 'The Paratrooper' live from SPOT Festival '07.

June 4 - 2007
Hey! And Wow! What a weekend. With a packed Gran venue and tons of people in line to see our show we couldn't be more happy and thankful for last weekend's events on the SPOT Festival. The drunken afterparty was superb as well with so many good bands and new contacts - sort of like MySpace in real life ;-). Sweet love to Lotte / Ella Stich for letting us stay at her place. Check out her music!

May 28 - 2007
This year's SPOT Festival is coming up this weekend in Aarhus. We play Saturday in Gran (lille sal) at 17.00. We've got a kick-ass set ready for YOU!!

May 22 - 2007
Back from Belgium after 5 days of pure fun! Thanks to Barney!!, Rine!!, David, Laila, Kurt and co. If any of you in audiences took some good pictures of the shows please email them to us: postmaster(at)elray.dk. Our photo-section is down at the moment but we'll do a MySpace-slideshow or something. And to those of you who didn't get your greasy hands on the latest El Ray gear go HERE!.

May 14 - 2007
See you Flemish folks this Wednesday to Sunday out in the JHs, cafes and, ermmm, on a farm. Yiipiee!

May 8 - 2007
'Highwave to Hell. 23 Golden Hits 2001 - 2006' was released yesterday and has already seen excellent reviews on Reverb Central and likes! Buy it direct from Green Cookie Records or CD Baby.

April 24 - 2007
'Highwave to Hell. 23 Golden Hits 2001 - 2006' is released on Monday, May 7th. It's out on Green Cookie Records and comes with 16 pages booklet with pics, stories and the whole shabang. This cookie with milk will keep you up all night!!

March 28 - 2007
Cool news!! We're playing at the SPOT Festival in Aarhus on June 1/2.

March 26 - 2007
Two gigs added to the live-section. This Saturday we'll play in Lund, Sweden with US band Devil Dolls and on April 13th we'll rock the boat Stubnitz in Rostock. See you Swedish cats on Saturday!

March 14 - 2007
Yet another superb weekend on road. Great turnout in Berlin where El Ray/the Aim (give that band a record deal now!) rocked the house in the Copenhagen r'n'surf style. Saturday was at the Volxbad in Flensburg. Not the biggest turnout but (as always) fantastic crew and audience! Thanks a lot for a great night!

As mentioned earlier on these pages Greek label Green Cookie Records are releasing an El Ray 'best of so far' during this spring. The album is entitled 'Highwave to Hell. 23 Golden Hits 2001 - 2006'. The album contains 19 selected tracks from our releases as well as four new songs. We've had many requests for our first demo and album 'Shoot From The Hip'. This will be your chance to get the best songs from those two plus from 'Tick...Tick...Tick' and 'Holiday on Ice'. This will be a cd release only. Check out the tracklist in 'discography'.

March 6 - 2007
We are so ready for this weekends gigs in Berlin and Flensburg. It's been a while since our last visit in Berlin. It's always a blast in Wild at Heart with Tikistyle, Jaegermeister and Rock'n'Roll! Same goes for Volxbad in Flensburg! Hope to see some familiar faces again. You know who you are. See ya'.

February 20 - 2007
Hey! Saturday was a lot of fun. El Kid'o celebrated his 26th birthday playing a kick-ass gig with his kick-ass band. When the drunk crowd sang for Kid'o the band picked up the good vibes and threw the pristine surf right back at them. What a great night and what excellent bands! We'll do it again on March 2nd with The Beatitude in Huset, Copenhagen.

In May we'll do a small 4-5 gigs Studenthouse Tour in Belgium. Three gigs confirmed so far.

February 6 - 2007
Thanks for coming out last Thursday and Friday. It was great to get the surf'n'drinking rolling again! Next gig on February 17th in Turbinehallen, Copenhagen.

Superb REVIEW from Reverb Central on 'Holiday On Ice'. Phil Dirt is Mr. Ph.D Surf so you can take his word(s) for granted. Hell Yeah!

January 29 - 2007
February is coming up and that also means a bunch of new El Ray gigs during the spring. We'll start out on Thursday down at good old Lades together with a rather new rockband called Metropolis - check out the Live-section and get updated!

Mucho of the El Ray internet action goes on at our El Ray MySpace site right now. Don't forget to drop by there!

January 9 - 2007
Check out various pics from 2006 in the 'Photos'-section. If you've got any El Ray pics to share please email them to us on postmaster(at)elray.dk

January 3 - 2007
Happy New Year everyone! Let's get 'El Ray version 07' going. Did you order your copy of 'Holiday On Ice' yet? If not click on the link above. Remember this release is a limited edtion - it's gonna be a collectors item within the instro scene - that's a guarantee!

December 24 - 2006
Yesterday our good and beloved friend, Jan V. Povlsen passed away. Jan had struggled with cancer for quite some time. We'll remember Jan as the guy who taught us a lot about the instro/surf scene and helped El Ray with contacts, gigs and good vibes all the way. Jan always refused to accept the fact that instro'n'surf should be a difficult genre to embrace due to the 'no vocals' approach and he had one of the finest instro/surf record collections in the world. As far as we know his last gig was at Stengade 30 in Copenhagen when Dick Dale played there in November - a concert he looked foreward to for months!

Thanks ol' buddy and R.I.P.

December 19 - 2006
Merry x-Mas and Happy New Year, dear Rays!

Some time has gone and what's up in the El Ray HQ? Well, the much fabled 10" vinyl, "Holiday On Ice" was sent to Heptown Records from Germany yesterday. This means you are able to give a nice and ICE COLD new years present for the loved ones! We heard a testprint of the vinyl, and OH DEAR GOD - it will blow your mind!
Another excellent newsflash is that the fabulous label "GreenCookie Records" from Greece will release a "El Ray Greatest Hits" early 2007. This album will contain tunes from the SOLD OUT records we made PLUS 4 brand new unique tracks! We can't wait to play them for you all.

Stay tuned for release dates and gigs!

November 12 - 2006
Gig coming up on November 24th in Studenterhuset, Copenhagen with Clamshake. To those of you who wonders where and what the heck is going on with the 'Holiday on Ice' release we really hope - and cross our fingers - it'll get here before the show in Studenterhuset.
This release has been so delayed due to all kinds of problems. Who knows, maybe we'll throw another relaseparty in Studenterhuset! Stay tuned.

November 3 - 2006
New Video!

October 22 - 2006
Believe or not. We have been cancelled as support for Dick Dale - again! - just like it happened a couple of years ago. The German tourmanager won't accept any surf/instro band as support for the Big D. Yeah yeah, this sucks we know.

We'll be playing a show in Viborg this Friday. Tor Fruergaard and his 'It Came From The West' crew have now finished the movie and there's a sneak-preview on Friday before it premieres next year. We've got two tracks in the movie and will play later on that night!

October 1 - 2006
Yes Sir! What a release party.....no vinyl, no posters and almost no free beer. What a fucking drag! We had a hard time working out how to treat you guys with el mucho beers due to some wierd bar rules in the venue. Luckily the beer situation got solved and the alcohol could kick in nicely with El Ray in our finest punk'ish SURF mood! Some in the crowd declared their sweet love for the band. You know what? It's the other way around. Thanks for coming out!

Thanks to Swing of Sahara for a great show. Another cool band that we are proud to be on the same label with. And let's not forget MetteVME and Boris the Soundguy - they did an excellent job.

Now don't forget to order a copy of 'Holiday on Ice'. It's somewhere between the north and southpole but due to arrive soon. We hope to sell them at our next show supporting the legend over all legends. Mr. Dick Dale on November 2nd.

September 27 - 2006
Pre-order your copy of 'Holiday on Ice' direct from Heptown Records. It's a 500 copies, 10" white vinyl limited edition, folks. It's got a 109 Swedish kroner prizetag (about 11,50 euros). Damn cheap. See you on Saturday!

September 19 - 2006
Next up is the release of 'Holiday on Ice'. It's due on October 2nd. On September 30th we'll have a Release Party at Operaen, Christiania. A superb night coming up with live-music (El Ray and Swing of Sahara), dj's, happy hour with Russian vodka and rootsy drinks from Jamaica. Go!

September 10 - 2006
Hey El DoRados! Seems like a whole bunch of you had a great time at yesterday's gig. We sure had and look foreward to do it all again on Sept. 30th. Many thanks for showing up!

September 4 - 2006
The site is back up and running now after a major breakdown!

Our next release 'Holiday On Ice' is out on Heptown Records/VME on Oct. 2nd and there'll be a release party on September 30th in Operaen, Christiania to celebrate this first vinyl release from us. More info on that event during the month.

We've got a cool surprise coming up at this Saturday's show in Kulturhuset, Islands Brygge....! See you there.

PS. We've just received the new line of El Ray t-shirts and the new overly cool black El Ray hood. Logo done by Primer Grapx as usual! It's really nice, folks. Pics and where-to-buy info will be announced asap.

August 24 - 2006
Don't forget to drop by Huset this Sunday in Copenhagen and celebrate the opening of the venue's new season. We'll play around 19.15. It's free! Get the program here.

August 4 - 2006
Take a bite and have a taste of these 2 two brand new tracks from 'Holiday On Ice'. After the release there'll be a free download from this site. In the meantime enjoy and tell us you love it, want more and how you can't wait for that 10" to hit your turntable. Go to El Ray's MySpace site.

June 30 - 2006
Final mixes of the forthcoming 10" EP (entitled 'Holiday on Ice') are almost done! Release date and further info will be announced soon.

June 6 - 2006
What a great weekend on the road. Got picked up by Heptown Records Saturday morning and drove all the way to Stockholm with a bunch of cool dudes and dudettes. Played a sunny late-afternoon show and were totally drunk by 6pm. Rest of the day were pure Hoochie-Coochie with Burlesque shows and fancy drinks.

Got up the next morning and before the hang-over kicked in, DePalma Clothing declared their sweet love for El Ray (the feeling is mutual) and sponsored us with a totally cool HotRod wardrobe. It's safe to say that we now are the best dressed surfband in good ol' Copenhagen. We'll be back in Stockholm in September.

May 30 - 2006
We'll perform at the DePalma Hot Rod Mayhem show this Saturday south of Stockholm, Sweden.

Final mixing of the forthcoming 10" EP will start next week! This EP will have 6-7 songs on it and will be our first release on vinyl. Finally!

May 16 - 2006
Join El Ray at MySpace.com.

May 1 - 2006
This one goes out to Jan Sneum and co. for letting us perform at this year's Radiohuset Rocker. An excellent day with tons of good music. We did 5 songs in 13 minutes. Wham Bam, Thank You Mam. Fast and furious as always!

Another Benelux tour is in the making. The tour is scheduled for September 21st - 30th. Please contact Bas from WMmusic.nl if you want to book us this year.

April 10 - 2006
The gig at Lades was a lot of fun and it feels like the place is turning into a small venue now they have rebuilt the whole thing. Cool! Although we had our share of electronic gizmo fuck-up's we rawked'n'roowled the house.

Coming up is our showcase at this year's Radiohuset Rocker. We're scheduled to play at 15.15 sharp. Hope to see some die-hard El Ray fans there to back us up!

March 28 - 2006
Copenhagen gig confirmed on April 7th at Lades.

March 27 - 2006
Copenhagen, Rostock and Flensburg. If you saw us play over the weekend, well, thanks! We had an execellent time and it was great to meet up again with our good friends from Rostock based Tricky Lobsters. They played a kick-ass show. So did the amazing Peter Pan Speedrock! We're in good shape at the moment and really look foreward to play more shows and present our new material and recordings. Word is from Heptown Records that there's gonna be a new El Ray 10" released later this year! Also the vinyl edition of 'Tick...Tick...Tick...' is planned for a release.

March 20 - 2006
Last-minute gig coming up this Thursday (March 23rd) in Studenterhuset, Copenhagen. FREE ADMISSION! Friday and Saturday we plan rock the lederhosen off the German kids in Rostock and Flensburg. See you there.

March 6 - 2006
Cool to get some Copenhagen live-action going again on Rust. Thanks for coming out!

We've been confirmed for this year's 'Radiohuset Rocker 2006' on April 29th where we'll play a showcase during the afternoon. More info later.

February 16 - 2006
Copenhagen gig confirmed on March 2 at Rust. Two ska-bands (King Django (US) and Ramjet) that we'll surf up inbetween. Sounds like a fun night to us!

February 14 - 2006
Time for an update, folks! The studio session we did 3 weeks ago was GREAT! Denmark was hit by a blizzard that weekend but nothing could prevent your favorite surfers to get some work done. Over the weekend we finished the songs for the Zombiewestern and got another 7 tracks on tape. The pre-mixes sound very cool and we're going to have a chat with the nice people at Heptown Records about a new release later this year. A few pics from the session are now in photo-section. Go and have a look at some freezing doublepicking Danes.

January 13 - 2006
So what's up on Planet Ray? Well, we're rehearsing for the studio session next weekend. The session will take place at the Black Tornado Studio with, dare we say, 'Heptown intern' producer Ralph A. Rjeily. We really look foreward to work with Ralph. He has been producing a bunch of rock'n'roll records over the years but producing instro'n'surf marks a new territory for him. This is going to be one heck of a weekend! The plan is to record new songs for our forthcoming 2006 release plus record a brand new track we've done for a horror-muppet movie called It Came From The West. We've seen a rough cut of this movie and it's really something!

Some German live-dates coming up during the next weeks.

January 9 - 2006
Happy New Year. This year has started out with some really sad news. Our Dutch booker, Willy van der Meer, passed away on January 4th. Our condolences to Willy's wife, kids and family. The funeral is today.

December 18 - 2005
Great turnout there on Rust. Thanks for coming out! This year's El Ray X-Mas present included the beautiful El Diavolina and a bunch of surfing jingle-bells. Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year. We're going to record new stuff in January. More info about that soon.

December 12 - 2005
Don't forget 'The Ultimate Christmas Surf'n'Rock Party' this Friday at Rust. We'll bring along a hot surprise from Planet Ray!! The electro lo-fi rockers from Rumspringa will open and there's FREE admission.

November 17 - 2005
Take a good look on page 84 in the new edition of Danish food'n'lifestyle magazine Gastro. Then you'll find out how El Ray spend their Sundays...

November 12 - 2005
Nice turnout yesterday and a pretty intense gig with kick-ass Aimology. To spice things up a bit Aimology opened with a set of four songs. Then El Ray entered the stage and did five songs. Aimology right back on stage doing the rest of their set and when they did their 'dying on stage act' we fired the rest of our show up with a furious version of 'The Spider'. There! Two and a half hour live music of constant surf and rock'n'roll. Pretty wild to say the least!

A bunch of photos from our 10 days in the Benelux have now been uploaded. Enjoy! If you find yourself on any of the pics feel free to write a comment in the guestbook.

We're going to cool it for a month or so and then we will be back on stage on December 16th with a special Christmas show on Rust. FREE admission!

November 8 - 2005
This one goes out to every single one of you that we either played with, talked to and/or got drunk with during the last ten days on the road. Thank you! This time around we did 8 gigs and if every venue didn't get 110% of the El Ray mojo, well, then they sure as hell got 100%.
We had El 'Rober...ahhmm...Bjarke' driving and selling merch for us. He sold a bunch of cd's and all the new t-shirts during and after the shows. So spread the word and music people and we'll be back before you know it. Also it was very nice reading all of your comments in the guestbook!
We took a whole lot of pictures and will post some of them soon.

Huset, Copenhagen is up next on Friday with Aimology. See yer.

October 27 - 2005
Dutch and Belgian visitors! See you out there on the venues during the next 10 days. We'll try and update the site through the guestbook so stay tuned!

October 21 - 2005
Hot Dang! Last night's gig in Loppen premiered our show for this fall. If we start to play any faster we may need ground control. With a few adjustments we're more than ready to rock the Dutch kids from Oct. 27th - Nov 5th. Thanks to Robert and Primer for getting our new suits ready in time! Also thanks to TMSO for a great gig - young angry rock'n'rollers with something on their mind. The 'singing' girl who went on stage during 'paratrooper' really made our night. Watch out for this beautiful crazy-ass girl! So how do you like those new suits?

October 11 - 2005
Two more gigs confirmed in Amsterdam and Groningen. The Benelux tour is starting to look real good!

It has been a bit quiet around here lately but behind the scenes we have been busy flashing our new outfits. Not only in the dressing room but also on a photo shoot for a new Danish lifestyle and food magazine called Gastro. Yes, it's true! El Pretty Boys in the next (first?) issue when Gastro is all about, erm, sandwiches...

September 21 - 2005
First batch of dates for this year's Benelux Tour have been added to the live-setion. More will be added during the next weeks.

Regarding the Loppen gig on October 20th we have been told that CPH rock'n'roll newcomers from The Mexikan Stand-Off will join us. It sounds like a great macth!

This Friday (Sep. 23rd) you'll find us somewhere in Copenhagen playing a surprise gig at a rock'n'roll birthday-party. Maybe we'll see you....!

September 5 - 2005
Pics from last weekend uploaded. Check them out!

Word is that Deadbolt have canceled their European tour this fall. That's a damn shame but no worries - we'll still play the gig on Oct. 20th! We don't know at the moment who we're going to team up with instead.

August 29 - 2005
If you saw us play over the weekend, well, thanks a bunch for coming out! When you're in a band every gig is different and this weekend just proved that thesis right. Sort of like a rollercoaster ride. We started out Thursday night with a good solid performance in Nyk. Falster, blew the roof off in the Wild at Heart club in Berlin the day after and started out slow but rocked hard in the end on the Summer Safari Festival Saturday.

This was our third visit in Berlin and the gigs in Wild at Heart just get better and better. Cool to see familiar faces there that have been to our shows more than once now. On Friday they probably saw El Ray in our finest moment completely rockin' our asses off. We'll be back next year!

Many thanks goes out to Joerg and his Summer Safari Festival team as well. We must recommend every rock'n'roll fan to go there next year. It's a blast.

A great weekend indeed! Stay tuned for pics.

August 22 - 2005
If you're lucky to be in Leipzig (saturday), Berlin (friday) or Nyk. Falster (thursday) please join us when we rock the joints during this week. We're scheduled to play at 22.30 Saturday night on the main stage on this year's Summer Safari Festival. The festival-crew expect three days of pure rock'n'roll and pomade'n'fun. Go cat go!

El Firetone and El Twang's first attempt on being hotter-than-hell DJs was a real success. Thanks for showing up and hanging in there with us. If you behave we'll probably do it again soon.

August 12 - 2005
Great news! We'll open for instro-truckin' Texans, Deadbolt, on Oct. 20th in Loppen, Copenhagen. This gig will also kick-off this year's Benelux tour which starts the week after.

About the DJ-thangy next week, Aug. 19th. Smart-ass DJs can be boring as hell. That's why Crunchy Frog keeps it crisp every Friday night in Ideal Bar. It's gonna be a lot of fun so grab your partner and we'll see you downtown, CPH. Here's the official info on the event:

'DJ Firetone, Twang and Miss Freeze. Tonight El Ray guitarslingers El Firetone and El Twang teams up with Miss Freeze to present you with a musical cocktail that will set your dancing shoes on fire. Like in 'if it has a cool beat they'll play it'. Obscure surf tunes, greasy rock'n'roll, electro-clash and all the indie classics they know you love so much. Hear! Hear!'

August 1 - 2005
A couple of gigs added today. Check them out! As a little bonus El Firetone and El Twang will host as DJs in Ideal Bar, Copenhagen on August 19th. More info on that event soon.

5 pics uploaded from this year's Vesterbro Festival. Many thanks goes out to Jesper Henriksen and The Adam for sending those excellent photos!

July 18 - 2005
Due to reasons we do not know of the gig on August 11th in the Rust venue has been cancelled/moved. We'll post the new date when we get it. This sucks - we know...

June 29 - 2005
Next gig coming up is on August 11th where you'll find your favorite Rays spreading the good surfin' vibes in the Rust venue here in Copenhagen. Our dear friend Marc Burro from The Untamed will open this night with his good looks, guitars and a solo-set to match.

It's also confirmed now that we'll drop by the greasy joint Wild At Heart in Berlin on August 26th. This will be our third gig there and we usually kick ass in Berlin so we plan to do it again before someone kicks our asses! The Summer Safari Festival is coming up the day after on August 27th and we are scheduled to play 22.30 that Saturday.

Good venues and great places to look forward to go to. And, oh, there are new songs coming up as well. Till then - have a great summer!!

June 20 - 2005
Thank you all for showing up to our afternoon gig last Saturday. It's safe to say that it was the sunniest outdoor gig we've ever done. The Vesterbro Festival is underground with a pro-touch to it. Cool stuff guys and gals! We're working on more live-dates and they'll be added soon.

June 13 - 2005
We are now confirmed for this year's Summer Safari Weekender Festival in Leipzig, Germany. We are scheduled for Saturday night.

A late-October tour in the Benelux is in the works as well. More info on this one later on!

May 27 - 2005
Gig added. On June 18th we'll open this year's Vesterbro Festival. Just like the last couple of years the Festival will take place in Halmtorvet, Copenhagen. We'll start at 15.30 sharp!

May 8 - 2005
Thanks a bunch for dropping by Studenterhuset! A pretty f*cked up gig played straight from our hearts. The cool dude entering the stage with his swimmask on for 'Sniper Diver' was one to remember :-). See you next time!

May 4 - 2005
Last-minute-gig coming up this Friday, May 6th, at Studenterhuset, Copenhagen. The fun starts at 22.00 hours and the entrance is FREE!

May 3 - 2005
We're back in CPH after a fun weekend on the road. This time around with an excellent car that took us around well airconditioned on the German autobahn.

Started out in Potsdam on Friday with a highly intoxicated evening. A first for El Ray was drinking Tequila w/ cinnamon and a slice of orange. Cool shots! Played a great gig in Chemnitz the day after. It was top-notch to see Tino, Uwe and the 'Subway To Peter' gang again. Cheers!

Luebeck was the last stop this weekend and what a terrific place. An open-air festival with 3 stages and tons of people enjoying the heck out of the hot summer night. We got on stage around midnight and played a sweaty, greasy and surfin' gig that made the crowd dance like crazy. This is what live-music is about and that's why we keep doing it!

Stay tuned for photos and more live-dates.

April 25 - 2005
Three gigs in Germany coming up this weekend. We plan to get even with all the troubles we had earlier this month - and getting even means that we plan to rock our asses off! And yours as well.

April 11 - 2005
Lately there have been requests for a copy of 'Shoot From The Hip'. Unless you'll find a copy in one of the Copenhagen stores, like Route 66, it's now safe to say that the album is sold out! Guess that makes it a collectors item.

April 5 - 2005
Live-dates added and some changed.

April 4 - 2005
Troubles oh troubles. What a weekend of bad luck. One show cancelled, one show well done and a fatal car breakdown that left the band in the middle of nowhere in Germany.

First we thought it was an Aprils Fool when we Thursday night found out that our show, Friday, in Merseburg was cancelled due to misunderstandings between booker, venue and band. Well, it wasn't an Aprils fool...

Oh well. We decided to do that long drive Saturday and play the show in Bischofswerda, Germany anyway. Got on the road early Saturday morning and ended up at the venue 14 hours later after two flat tires, a broken generator and a near-exploding car battery that made the car go into Poltergeist mode with the windscreens flippin' like crazy and the car lights blow up.

Arrived pretty worned out at the venue around 22.30 and found 400-500 people waiting for El Ray while swimming in a huge indoor-pool and having drinks in sand. A huge crazy indoor beach-party going on there. The show went very well and we gave it all we had!

Got the car 'fixed' next day and while driving slowly towards Denmark the clutch now failed and the car finally died on us. Hired a new car in Berlin and got back to Denmark 18 hours after leaving Bischofswerda...

What a weekend! Can't wait to get back on road for some more rock'n'roll living in the end of April. Check out the photo-section and please check back during the next couple of weeks for more German dates.

March 22 - 2005
The brand new issue of German Banzai Magazine is out now. In this issue (#13, 145 pages) there's a 7 pages long interview with El Ray. Check it out! We very much look foreward to hit the German venues in April!

March 20 - 2005
Thanks for coming out last night! The set got pretty nasty and turned into a dose of pure 'high octane surf'. But that's how you kids like it, isn't it?! Also thanks to The Hors D'oeuvres for a great show! We noticed that some of you took photos during the show. Please email us some at postmaster@elray.dk - you will of course get a photo credit.

The gig on April 1st has been moved from Potsdam to the Uni Club in Merseburg, Germany.

March 15 - 2005
El Ray seeks go-go dancers! Male or female - we don't care as long as you can shake those hips and make our instros go-go. Interested? Drop us an email at postmaster@elray.dk

March 13 - 2005
The Hors D'oeuvres will join us on Saturday with some 70s inspired rock'n'roll.

March 12 - 2005
Check out this excellent new site if you're into authentic 60s surf-photos. We're helping out Bob Driver and co to get this site going and have one of our songs featured at the moment.

We've been asked who's going to open for us on next Saturday's gig but we still don't know yet...as soon as we know we'll post it here!

February 26 - 2005
While we're waiting to get back on stage for some real live action on March 19 at Loppen check out the updated Photo-section. Live pics from December, 2004 and January, 2005.

February 12 - 2005
Five German dates added to the live-section.

February 9 - 2005
New live-dates coming up soon. So far Loppen, Copenhagen is confirmed on March 19th. A Germany/Benelux tour is in the works for late April - check back for more info during February and March.

January 31 - 2005
Cool turn-out on last Friday's gig in Rostock! The Stubnitz is actually a huge boat which, apart from being a great venue, visits European habours from time to time. How about that? Rumours has it that Copenhagen is up next. The gig was filmed with three different cameras(angles) and if the quality is any good we'll try and do something with it. Maybe some sort of an El Ray bootleg DVD?

Thanks to Rene and Fortuna in Nyk. Falster for a fun Saturday night. Fortuna is one of those small bars that could easily be placed next to a dusty highway in Arizona. We hope to go there again sometime and have another round of 'saft'!

January 23 - 2005
The brand new issue of The Continental Magazine #11 has landed here on our desk at the El Ray HQ. It sports a new great looking format and comes with it's usual cd-sampler. We're on the sampler and it's full of cool tunes. In the mag you'll also find a 5 out of 5 stars kick-ass review of 'Tick...Tick...Tick...' claiming '...it tops about 90% of what other bands are releasing these days.' Well, Thank you! Click here to check it out!

Gig added to the Live-section. Next Friday we'll will play in Rostock, Germany and Saturday in Nyk. Falster, Denmark. See Ya' out there!

January 12 - 2005
Another German gig coming up this month. On January 28th we'll hit the shores (or waters) of German city Rostock. The venue is on a boat and we plan to rock it!

January 10 - 2005
Happy New Year! We have already kickstarted 2005 with two great shows and drunken afterparties. Friday was El Twang's birthday and the El Ray boys did their best to celebrate and intoxicate the 'young' man. The Volxbad in Flensburg, Germany is an excellent venue - cool staff, DJ and audience. Go check it out if you get a chance some day!
The day after we played Pitstop in Kolding. There was a huge storm over Denmark Saturday so it was very nice to see some daredevils coming out for the real tornado. Another crazy gig and party. Thanks a lot to Ulf for having us again!

December 27 - 2004
2004 is coming to it's end. It has been a fantastic year for us with a new album out and a lot of great gigs, beautiful people and parties to look back at. We're, however, ready for more action and will begin 2005 with 2 gigs on January 7th and 8th. First gig is in Flensburg, Germany. Last year we had to cancel our gig at the Volxbad, Flensburg so we owe them one - and they'll get it in a couple of weeks time! The day after we'll play at Pitstop in Kolding. It's been a while since our last visit in Kolding so we hope to see some faces out there on January 8th.

December 8 - 2004
We're currently working on some new live-dates for the spring 2005. In the meantime please go to the Roskilde Festival webpage and suggest El Ray for the 2005 festival. Thanks!

December 4 - 2004
What a fantastic night! An almost sold out Loppen rocked and danced their asses off. We had a great time! The fabulous Tremolo Beer Gut once again proved what a great band they are. Thank you TBG and Jessica (KUBI).

December 1 - 2004
It's December and we're only two days away from a modern, crunchy and twisted ol' school surf-attack night at Loppen with El Ray and Tremolo Beer Gut. A huge party coming up! See yer on Friday!

November 24 - 2004
We've expanded the shop-section. It's now possible to choose from different online shops. All shops accept credit cards or Paypal and some both. Some shops also sell smashing El Ray t-shirts to go with our tunes. Go shop away!

November 12 - 2004
It was really great to see many old and new faces at last night's showcase. Good fun although we had to get of stage after five quick tunes. Many thanks to VME for setting this up and to the other four cool bands.
Now we're at the good vibrations. Danish magazine Geiger really digs 'Tick...Tick...Tick...'. Go to REVIEW.

LowCut magazine just gave 'Tick...Tick...Tick...' a superb 5 out of 5 review! You can read it HERE!

September 28 - 2004
Don't forget to drop by Studenterhuset in Copenhagen on Friday. This gig will be our first 'real' performance in Copenhagen since May. It's part of the - Heptown Records Night! - and with labelmates Screamin' Eric and new band The Punch from Sweden. The entrance fee is only 40,- and that, dear friends, is a bargain!!

Go to the Audio/Video section to listen to 'Jack the Samurai (defeats all evil)' from our new album 'Tick...Tick...Tick...'. If you like what you hear hurry to the shop-section and get yourself a copy of the album.

September 23 - 2004
Pictures uploaded from the tour. Enjoy! More to come.

September 20 - 2004
Gadverdame. What a great tour and dare we say PARTY! A real blast for the new El Ray line-up. We only played a couple of gigs with El Kid'o before the tour but the band is now already back rockin' and surfin' bigtime! And with El Coyote taking care of the driving and all the technical stuff, well, what else could one ask for?!

Once again we met so many great bands, promotors and people out there on the venues. Had a great time with Dutch bands The Anacondas and The Shavers. They really rock the way El Ray likes it! Top stuff!

We hope to get back to Benelux early next year. So hopefully we'll see you all again soon! So many people to thank that we'll just trust you know who you are!

Check back soon for pictures from this tour.

September 6 - 2004
Final tour schedule ready. This time around we'll do 9 gigs in 10 days and will start of in Gent, Belgium on Thursday. Check out the dates in the 'live' section and see you out there on the venues!

We just got word from Heptown Records that 'Tick...Tick...Tick...' will be out on vinyl in a couple of weeks. This little gem will be done as a 10". That format just rocks! Look foreward to it.

September 2 - 2004
Don't forget our gig this Sunday at Studenterhuset. It's part of the Club Hepcat Festival and is all about swing music and cool dancing. So what's surf gotta do with that you may ask? Well, nothing really but we're there to support Heptown Records and ALL of it's great activities. So come on out and join in on what's going to be quite a different Sunday afternoon. The fun starts at 2pm and we'll get on stage around 5pm.

Check out the downloads-section. New photos that'll make your desktop look damn hot!

August 30 - 2004

August 17 - 2004
To celebrate the release of the new album there's going to be a release party on August 27th at Ideal Bar in Copenhagen. The fun starts at 20.30 and there'll be free beers as long as supply last plus a few other goodies from Heptown Records. We're going to play a small set during the evening and introduce our new bassplayer El Kid'o who by now is ready for some live action! Anything else? Well we're basically going to party like mad!!!

From 23.00 and on till 5.00 DJ Screamin' Eric will make Ideal Bar rock with his collection of all that's ol' school and cool. Your very own El Ray's will also take their turns as DJs and provide you with all kinds of smashing tunes. See you on August 27th!

August 16 - 2004
It's now possible to pre-order your copy of 'Tick...Tick...Tick...' from Heptown Record's webshop! Please hurry to I WANT KICK-ASS SURF!

August 6 - 2004
Today is a great day! The album is now all done and we'll soon receive our first copies. The album is due on August 30th on Heptown Records/VME. We'll get pretty busy during this month getting ready for the release and Benelux tour. El Ray will soon be back in business and ready for some surf'n'greasy action!

July 9 - 2004
El Doctorro's replacement has been found and we feel very certain that we nailed the right guy for the job! He will for now go by the name El X and we very much look foreward to present him on our gigs this fall.

About gigs. New dates have been added to the Benelux tour in September. More will be added soon.

June 29 - 2004
Bunch of new pics uploaded in the photo-section and more to come. Check it out. Many thanks goes out to our good buddy Mikkel Nielsen for helping us out with this!

June 21 - 2004
El Doctorro has decided to leave the band. This news has been known to us for quite some time now. Apart from being an asskicking bassplayer El Doctorro also studies medicine and has recently signed up for a volunteer-program in Africa. We are very sad to see him go! He plays bass on the forthcoming album though so it's not all over yet. This also means that we're currently looking for and auditioning new bassplayers. If you think you've got what it takes to take over the bassduties in El Ray then drop us a mail at postmaster@elray.dk.

The new edition of Soundvenue Magazine is out now so go check it out.

June 11 - 2004
Yesterday we wrote that the new edition of Soundvenue Magazine was out. This is not true. It should be out pretty soon though and we'll let you know when so you don't miss out on reading the piece about us!

June 10 - 2004
If you are wondering what's going on with the forthcoming album, well, here's what we've got at the moment. The album is all done and El Primer (who has done all of our artwork) is currently working on a smashing cover. The album will be released late August/early September by our new label - Swedish based Heptown Records. There will be release concerts in Denmark and Sweden due to this event. This also means that we have left Alternate Records. Alternate will of course remain as label for our debutalbum 'Shoot From The Hip'. We wish Marc Alexander and Alternate all the best. They have done a great job for our little surfin' band.

A tour for the Benelux countries is in the making and will take place in September. We'll post the dates as soon as we get them. Another gig in Wild at Heart, Berlin on September 18th has been added. We already look foreward to this one!

Newest edition of the Danish magazine Soundvenue is out today and we're in it. You can get yourself a free copy at your local recordstore.

May 24 - 2004
We'll post some fresh info regarding our new label, releasedate for the upcoming El Ray album, gigs/tour and a magazine interview pretty soon! A lot of cool stuff going on, folks!

May 10 - 2004
We're back after three gigs well done. We had a great time in beautiful Jena where the first gig took off. Although no monitors on stage we succeded in making the small but very enthusiastic crowd dance through the whole gig. Top stuff! Thanks Lori and staff - cool service, food and strange liquor!

'Wild at Heart' in Berlin came next. This was our first time in this fantastic rock'n'roll joint which now also have a TikiBar next door and clothing store. Wow! If you're into greasy lifestyle, music and looks, well, look no further. It's all there and it's pretty darn cool!
We played with crazy Australian band The Egos that put on a great show with their singer doing the whole gig only wearing swimshorts and guitar. Cool geezer with a pretty heavy aussie accent and things to say.
Another gig in 'Wild at Heart' is in the makings and we plan to come back in August or September after the new album release.

Last gig on this mini-tour was a 4 hour drive south of Berlin in Chemnitz. As mentioned earlier this gig was a special arrangement and Mario Forberg's birthdayparty and the humid Bunker Club was also packed to max with water dripping from the walls and ceiling. Once again we played with another great band - from Rostock called Tricky Lobsters. Supernice guys! It was a hell of a night with evil sounds and vibrations flying through the air. Thank you Mario, Tino, Uwe and Anne. Chemnitz rocks and you know we dig it!

May 5 - 2004
Great review (in Danish) on soundvenue.com of our show last Sunday. Click HERE to read the review.

May 3 - 2004
Yesterday's gig at Lades was the first one out of four during this week. We have spend the last couple of months recording and mixing the album so it felt very good to get back on stage again and let some energy out. Even for a Sunday night. And thank you Hawaii Samurai!!! It was great to play with these cool guys again! Next up are three German gigs in Jena, Berlin and Chemnitz. We'll play the legendary 'Wild at Heart' in Berlin on Friday with The Egos from Australia. The day after we'll visit Chemnitz for the third time. Mr. 'Rock'n'Roll Chemnitz' and promoter Mario Forberg is turning 36 and wants to get the party going with El Ray as main act in his new Bunker Club. Look foreward to it because we do!

April 15 - 2004
We'll play a gig with French surfers from Hawaii Samurai on May 2 here in Copenhagen. We did a great gig with them in France when we were on tour back in February. This time around they are on tour and we'll team up with them again on what's going to be a freakin' hot sunday night in May. Surf'n'roll there coming up to all of you Copenhagen cats and kittens!!!

April 6 - 2004
The forthcoming El Ray album now has a title which is 'tick...tick...tick...'. We're almost there with the final mixes but still a bit unsure when the album will be due. Let's just say for now that we aim for a hot summer release!

Talking about hot. It's now possible to buy El Ray t-shirts online through vibrashop.com. Go get one from this LINK or click at 'shop' in the menu. The t-shirts are excellent quality, only cost 20 euro and will make you look damn smashing!!!

March 24 - 2004
Three German gigs in May added to the live-section. More info about this mini-tour coming up soon!

March 11 - 2004
Back in November 2003 we played a gig at Club RetroBlaster at Mejeriet in Lund, Sweden. The whole show was filmed by Sam A Rous from Raafilm. He has cut a video from the shots he got that night. Click HERE to check it out.

March 9 - 2004
Progress is being made, folks! We spend last night at Kondi Frost, Copenhagen working on the album and we're now ready to get started on the final mixes which will be done in the end of March.

March 2 - 2004
Wow! What a weekend. Got all 11 songs recorded for the new album and layed down a lot of overdubs as well. A lot of intense, hard work there but pure fun and gooood surfin' vibes all the way. We'll start to mix the whole thing in 3 weeks time. This album is going to be a kick-ass release!!!

February 23 - 2004
Okay, back to the good news! We'll start recording the new album next weekend. The sessions will take place in 'The End Studios' in Lund, Sweden with Jesper 'Yebo' Reginal producing. Jesper Reginal is known for running Copenhagen based label Crunchy Frog as well as taking care of drumming duties in kick-ass bands such as Thau, Tremolo Beer Gut and Junior Senior. He recently co-produced Danish 'donkeypunkers' Powersolo's upcoming release and next up is working on the El Ray album which haven't been entitled yet. We very much look foreward to this collaboration and to present a new dose of pure surf'n'instro to the world!

February 16 - 2004
Usually this news-section is full of good announcements and vibrations but it's time for some bad news. We have been cancelled as support for Dick Dale next month. Apparently Mr. Dale won't allow any surfbands to open for him on his 2004 tour. What a shame...

February 9 - 2004
Greetings everyone. We're back in Copenhagen after a GREAT tour! We started out in Wiesbaden, Germany and ended up 9 gigs later with a packed venue and rockin' crowd at the Mokka Bar in Thun, Switzerland. A fantastic way to end the tour. Inbetween we played some cool venues and played at the Subway To Peter, Chemnitz for the second time - it was good to be back in the rockin' rock'n'roll dungeon! In France we played with fellow surfers from Hawaii Samurai. A very tight and great band who arranged a hot night for us at the Gibus Club in Besancon. Cool DJs on the way include DJ Chris from Mannheim and DJ Jack The Menace in Geneva. What else is there to say apart from a few pretty crazy gigs and drunk nights in Waldkirchen, Germany and Hochst, Austria. Indeed a tour to remember! Many thanks goes out to local bands and promotors also - you know who you are and we're very greatful to you for your hospitality and for making us feel welcome.
What's up next? Well, we'll start recording the new album pretty soon.

January 29 - 2004
Final tour-schedule ready. Check it out in the 'live-section'. See ya out there!!!

Two new songs in the works! One is entitled 'The Manic Shoplifter' and is indeed totally manic. The other one still needs to be named? Any suggestions? Go to the 'guestbook' then and post what you've got.

Happy New Year everyone! We're back after a short break with a major update of the 'photos' section and some news.

The photo section has been updated with pics from the tour we did to Belgium, Holland, Germany and Austria back in October. Go and have a look!

US based DoubleCrown Records have a brand new issue out of their 'The Continential Magazine'. This issue is #10 and we have contributed with a track to the CD sampler which comes along with the magazine. Continential is one of the better surf/instro magazines out there. Click here to check it out!

We hope to present the February tourdates within a couple of weeks.

December 3 - 2003
Quite an early night there last Saturday at Vega. Thanks a lot for coming out and we're sorry to those of you who missed the show due to the early start. Also kudos to AIM for a fun and rockin' party!!!

The new material feels very cool and we have enough now to start recording. Some of the 'new' tracks have been in our live-set for quite some time and some were premiered during the two shows we played last weekend. We plan to record after the tour in February.

November 23 - 2003
We've been invited to join Danish 'neo rock'n'rollers' AIM on their gig next Saturday (29/11) at the Vega here in Copenhagen. This also marks the last appearance for us in 2003. AIM usually puts on a great rockin' live-show so don't miss out on this cool event!

November 17 - 2003
Another tour is in the works and we're heading for February, 2004. This time around we're probably going to play in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Check back on these pages during the next couple of months for further info and more details!

If you happen to be in the area of Ringsted come and see us when we open the two day festival at the venue 'Metro' on Friday.

November 9 - 2003
What a nice crowd of swinging hepcats and hot rod cars at the show last night in Lund, Sweden. Club RetroBlaster and Heptown are doing the ol'school way and we like it a lot! Thanks!

November 2 - 2003
Friday at Stengade 30 was indeed a great Halloween night - great turnout and a happy bunch of cool cats. Did you get scared? We bet some of you did! We got dressed up as mean surgeons and the treatment was a set of pure energetic surf tunes. Thanks a lot for coming out!!! We'll do it all again next Saturday with the kick-ass combo The Untamed in Lund, Sweden.

October 27 - 2003
Next up is the gig on Friday, Oct. 31, at Stengade 30. As mentioned before we'll join The Untamed who are releasing their debut-album on that very day. The Untamed's album is out on Swedish label 'HepTown Records' and is entitled 'Eerie Stories'. Entrance is 50,- and there'll be lots of free beer. So get out early and get refreshed with beers and lots of cool music! We are more than ready to get back in the game after the tour and play some surf'n'roll!!!

We've got around 420 pics from the tour now and we are trying to figure out which pics we want to upload on this site....! They'll be posted in the photos-section soon.

October 21 - 2003
We're back home in Copenhagen again. The tour was a real blast!!! We got to meet and see so many cool people, venues and places! Not to mention all the delicious beers we've tasted. Thanks to all who took part in this trip and to all of you that showed up for our gigs! We took a lot of pictures and we plan to make a tour-report soon!

The gig on Universitetscafeen on Friday has been moved to November 28th and will now take place at Teologi Bar.

October 13 - 2003
A quick howdy from the road. We played three gigs over the weekend - El Ray and the Belgian beers are for sure rockinī superb together!
Two more gigs added. Check out the live section.

October 3 - 2003
Hey folks! We're one week away from the tour and can't wait to get on the road. As mentioned earlier the first gig takes place at the Driesrock festival in St. Denijs, Belgium with 5-6 bands rockin' out. If we get a chance we'll update this site with news and stuff from the tour - either through the guestbook or in this news section. September 24 - 2003
More gigs added to the live section! On October 31 and November 8 we'll team up with the cool 'B-movie horror' cats from Copenhagen based band The Untamed. Around that time they'll release their debut album and we'll join them to make their release one 'hot dang super twang' party!!!

Regarding the October tour. We are still waiting for confirmation on more two gigs...! See you Copenhagen surf'n'roll lovin' people tomorrow at Lades.

September 15 - 2003
Seven confirmed gigs added to the 'live' section. These dates are all part of the October tour we're doing and so far we have three gigs in Belgium, one gig in Austria and three gigs in Holland. Two more gigs are in the works so check back soon for further info.

September 12 - 2003
Time for an update. We hope to announce the tourdates for October pretty soon! 3 new songs ready which we feel very good about - a mad surf track with frenzy double-picking, a spy'ish film theme and a cool sleazy cover!

What else is new? We're getting some t-shirts printed for the tour and we'll play a gig at Lades here in Copenhagen on Sep. 25th. This gig can be considered as a 'pre-tour' gig so join the party and listen to us test-drive the new material and maybe get yourself a new El Ray t-shirt!

We are scheduled to play in The Netherlands and Belgium in October although not 100% confirmed yet.
